Sandy Bay, commonly called Coney Beach, is one of Porthcawl’s livelier and more accessible beaches. It’s part of the seafront zone with cafes, shops, amusements, and direct access from the promenade. Sandy Bay is popular with families who can enjoy a traditional seaside location, including donkey and pony rides on the beach, alongside other facilities such as trampolines and bouncy castles.
The sand is broad and gently slopes into the sea; at low tide, you’ll have plenty of beach to roam. In summer, lifeguards are on duty (when the flags are flying).
Sandy Bay curves around and joins onto Trecco Bay beachย after Rhych Point.
Dogs are not allowed on Sandy Bay Beach between the 1st of May and the 30th of September.
