Bamaluz Beach is one of St Ives’ lesser-known beaches. It is a small, secluded cove between the more popular Porthgwidden Beach and St Ives Harbour. This hidden gem is mainly covered with pebbles and coarse sand, offering a quiet escape for those looking to avoid the crowds found at the town’s larger beaches. At low tide, Bamaluz reveals several rock pools, which provide an opportunity for exploration and discovery, although at high tide, the beach disappears.

Locals particularly favour Bamaluz, one of the few beaches in St Ives where dogs are allowed year-round, making it a popular spot for pet owners.

Unlike its more expansive neighbours, Bamaluz offers privacy. Its smaller size and less accessible location mean it’s often less crowded, although many dogs run around, making it more of a dogs-only beach.

Access to Bamaluz Beach is via a steep set of steps from the St Ives headland. This can make access challenging for those with mobility issues or families with young children and lots of beach gear.

Like most beaches in St Ives, Bamaluz Beach does not have direct parking. You must park in one of the town’s public car parks and walk to the beach. Finding parking in St Ives can be challenging during peak times, so public transport or arriving early is recommended.

Bamaluz is a smaller and more secluded beach with no immediate facilities. But you are beside the harbour and the nearest facilities, including shops, cafes, and toilets, are a short walk in St Ives town centre.

Bamaluz Beach is perfect for those seeking a peak-season dog-friendly beach within the town itself.
