Harbour Cove is a great dog-friendly crescent sandy beach that becomes a very large flat beach at low tide. The beach is north-facing within the Camel Estuary and a quieter alternative to the Atlantic-facing Padstow beaches. The beach’s gentle slope into the estuary waters makes it suitable for swimming, although you should be aware of the lack of lifeguard cover.
The beach is also known as Tregirls Beach and is named after the nearby farm.
There are no facilities besides a tea room at the farm on the road above the beach. Car parking is in a field down a rough track from the road, and then you will need to walk down a sloping path through some trees to get to the beach itself.
A good way to the beach is to park in Padstow. The coast path walk is about one mile via St. Georgeโs Cove, and it has some nice views over Brae Hill and Rock’s beaches. Once at Harbour CXove, at low tide, you can walk in either direction to St George’s Cove or Hawker’s Cove beaches.
Harbour Cove Beach is a must-visit destination for those seeking tranquillity, natural beauty, and a taste of Cornwall’s less commercialised side. Its charm lies in its simplicity and the unspoiled surroundings. As you can see from the video and photos, our visit in the peak of July resulted in the beach to ourselves.
This is where the notorious Doom Bar spit extends from the northeast point of the beach. Beer drinkers will recognise Doom Bar from the famous beer named after the spit, brewed on the North Cornish Coast by Sharp’s Brewery.
