Blackpool Sands Beach

Blackpool Sands is one of Devon’s most beautiful and tranquil beaches. It is set in a sheltered bay surrounded by woods. Contrary to what its name might suggest, it is not located in Blackpool, Lancashire, but near Dartmouth in South Devon.

Between May 1st and September 30th, dogs are not permitted on the beach or in car parks.

Despite its natural and unspoiled appearance, Blackpool Sands offers a range of facilities, including a cafe that serves local and organic food, showers, toilets, seasonal lifeguards, and a beach shop renting out kayaks, paddleboards, and wetsuits. There is also a designated area for barbecues.

The beach is easily accessible by car, just off the A379, with a large car park just a short walk from the beach.

Unfortunately, metal detectors are not permitted anywhere on the beach or any surrounding areas.

Blackpool Sands offers a unique blend of natural beauty, excellent facilities, and a wide range of activities, making it one of Devon’s busiest beaches. However, you have some smaller coves offering an unspoilt, dog-friendly and away from crowds, experience a short coast walk away.
