Maidencombe is a small sandy cove surrounded by red sandstone cliffs and has rock pools at low tide. Access is down a steep narrow path. Good access to the coastal paths giving excellent views of the rugged coastline. Facilities include small pay and display car park, cafe and toilets (summer only).

Sandy beach surrounded by cliffs and wood hillsides. The steep path that accesses the beach passes through woodland before arriving at the small cove. Car park available on Watcombe Beach Road with then a short walk down to the beach through woodland. Cafe in the cove by the beach. We have no dog information for Watcombe beach.

Shaldon beach is situated on the mouth of the river Teign, an unspoilt Devon village formed as silt was washed down by the river Teign. Shaldon has the Shaldon Wildlife centre dedicated to conservation and sits between the riverside Shaldon beach and the seaside Ness beach. Parking and other facilities within the village itself.

Compton Castle is actually a dramatic fortified manor house with a small formal garden. This has high curtain walls, towers and a portcullis. Home for nearly 600 years to the Gilbert family, including Sir Humphrey Gilbert, half-brother to Sir Walter Raleigh. Limited number of rooms open to the public; medieval kitchen, great hall, solar and sub solar.

The Bovey Tracey Swimming Pool Association is a Registered Charity run by volunteers. The Pool is a 25 metre open air heated pool. There is also a Toddler Pool.

Berry Pomeroy Castle, begun in c. 1560 and ambitiously enlarged from c. 1600, this mansion was intended to become the most spectacular house in Devon. Never completed, and abandoned by 1700, it became the focus of blood-curdling ghost stories, recounted in the audio tour. Woodland walks provide fine views of the ruins.
