North Sands beach can be found to the south of Salcombe between two headlands in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and adjacent to the ruins of Salcombe (Fort Charles) Castle. Gara beach, also known as Gara Rock Beach, is a sandy beach with plenty of rocks, tunnels and caves to explore. If you’d like to visit Gara beach from Salcombe, it’s probably faster and easier to take the estuary passenger ferry and walk rather than to take your car.
