Shaldon beach is situated on the mouth of the river Teign, an unspoilt Devon village formed as silt was washed down by the river Teign. Shaldon has the Shaldon Wildlife centre dedicated to conservation and sits between the riverside Shaldon beach and the seaside Ness beach. Parking and other facilities within the village itself.

Teignmouth lifeboat station was established in 1851 and operates an inshore lifeboat. The lifeboat station has an 1862 boathouse. Station open Thursday – Sunday. Shop open daily Easter – October, Nov/Dec – Fri and Sun only.
