West Exmoor Coast
The West Exmoor Coast, North East Devon, from Combe Martin to Woody Bay, west of Lynton has six miles of towering cliffs, secluded coves, wooded river valleys and heather moorland in Exmoor National Park.
Excellent walking on the South West Coast Path and Tarka Trail with some of the highest sea cliffs in southern England, a haven for coastal and woodland birds.

Woody Bay beach is a small rocky and sandy bay hidden within some great Exmoor National Park scenery. No prizes for why this is called Woody Bay, thus, if you visit this beach then bring your walking boots as the hills and woods contain many nice walks. Car park with decent down to the beach. Combe Martin Bay is a sandy and shingle sheltered cove on the edge of the Exmoor National Park. An ideal family beach. As the tide goes out a large area of sand is available with rock pools and safe swimming. The bay at Combe Martin is enclosed by high sea cliffs, the Great and Little Hangman, on either headland. The

Lee Bay is a rocky and sandy beach hidden below Lee Abbey on the South West Coast path to the west of Lynmouth. The beach can have some strong currents so beware when swimming. We have no dog information for Lee Bay beach.

Wringcliff beach is a small secluded bay surrounded by cliffs. The beach is a mix of sand and shingle with some larger boulders. The beach has no facilities and access is from the coast path down a steep path. The best parking is at the Valley of the Rocks where you also have a tea room.

Arlington Court is a Regency house built in 1823 with an extensive estate. The stables at Arlington Court host the National Trust’s Carriage Collection which is an impressive collection of horse-drawn vehicles.

Ilfracombe harbour is the largest on the North Devon coast. The harbour has been critical to this are for several centuries. Ilfracombe harbour is an ideal location from which to explore North Devon, in particular areas like Lundy Island, and other harbours along the North Cornwall and Bristol Channel coasts.
