Withernsea Lighthouse

Withernsea Lighthouse was built in 1892 due to a high number of shipwrecks when vessels couldn’t see the lighthouse at Flamborough or Spurn Head. Although, it is unusual in that it sits in the centre of the resort when it was built it was outside the houses within the sand dunes.

The lighthouse was decommissioned in 1976 and is now a museum and you can climb the 144 step spiral staircase to the lightroom and get some great views of the Yorkshire coastline.
