Glenkinchie Distillery
Glenkinchie Distillery is just under 15 miles from Edinburgh in Pencaitland.
This is the home of the Edinburgh Malt and you can enjoy the area and the exhibition as part of your tour of Scotland. There are not many places in Scotland that have this history. Here they saw Prince Charles Stuart reach power when his Highlanders defeated the Hanoverian forces in 1745 and illegal distilling was finally allowed.
Distilling in the area dates back to the 1700’s and although illegal, the area supported around four hundred such distilleries! Glenkinchie started in 1837 along with over 100 others but not many of them lasted and most of what they brewed wouldn’t have passed the rigorous demands of today’s whiskey connoisseurs!

Port Seton beach is the harbour end of the long Seton Sands beach. As you get close to the harbour the beach becomes more rocky/shingle. Great for exploring rockpools. Facilities include car parking, toilets, children’s play area, pub and hard path promenade and grass area behind the beach. We have no dog information for Port Seton beach.

Gosford Sands is a rural sand and shingle beach in the west facing Gosford Bay. High tide covers just about all of the beach. Car park and toilets at Ferney Ness on the southern end of the bay that splits Gosford beach from Longniddry beach.
