About Louisa Bay Beach
Louisa Bay is one of Broadstairs’ quieter sandy bays, tucked between Viking Bay and Dumpton Gap. Because it’s smaller and somewhat sheltered by cliffs, it offers a calmer, more peaceful beach experience, not as pretty as the other Broastairs Bays, in part because the white cliffs are wrapped in concrete.
At low tide, soft sand and rock pools appear, revealing seaweed-draped chalk and flint rock formations. A tidal pool, shared with Viking Bay, makes it fun for children โ crabbing, shell collecting or exploring, though it’s not always safe for swimming from the pool itself.
The beach boasts a compact yet inviting sandy shore, ideal for sunbathing, building sandcastles, and enjoying the seaside. Its relatively sheltered location makes it a safe and pleasant spot for paddling and swimming, although it all but disappears at high tide.
All year round, dog-friendly beach, although from 1 May to 30 September, dogs must be on a lead between 10 am and 6 pm.
While facilities are more limited compared to those on larger Broadstairs beaches, visitors to Louisa Bay can still find basic amenities, such as a cafe kiosk and very basic toilets.
Louisa Bay Beach is perfect for those seeking a peaceful beach day in the picturesque setting of Broadstairs. Its sandy shore, safe swimming waters, and charming atmosphere make it an ideal destination. The beach’s smaller size and quieter vibe provide a more intimate seaside experience, while still being close enough to the town centre and other Broadstairs attractions to enjoy the best of both worlds.
