Penshurst Place
Penshurst Place is one of the most complete examples of a 14th Century manor house in England. The Manor House, once the property of King Henry VIII, was left to his son King Edward VI and granted to Sir William Sidney in 1552 and the Sidney family have been in continuous occupation ever since.
The house and its gardens which are divided into “rooms” all offering a diferent focus are open for public viewing.

Charles Dickens visited Broadstairs in Kent regularly from 1837 until 1859. The Dickens Festival is run annually in June, a 3-day celebration of the life, times and novels of Charles Dickens. The streets of Broadstairs come to life in Victorian style, with stalls, shopping and demonstrations celebrating Charles Dickens and Victorian culture as a whole.
