Ainsdale beach, a large soft sandy beach between Southport and Formby with nature reserve and sand dunes. This beach is so large you can always find space.
Ideal for horse riding, Kitesurfing, landboards, buggy and land yachts.
Ainsdale Beach is now recognised as one of the best beaches in the UK for kite activities, with zones set aside for kite buggy, landboard use and kite surfing in the sea. A permit is required before you use a power kite in the kite zone.
An excellent beach to learn and practice kite surfing. This large and safe beach is free from obstructions.
The Ainsdale Discovery Centre is situated adjacent to the beach and Ainsdale & Birkdale Sandhills Local Nature Reserve. The centre provides local information, a classroom facility, venue for events and cycle hire.
Facilities include toilets, cafes, picnic area, car parking off Shore Road and nearby Ainsdale Village offers shopping and restaurants.
Dog Friendly Beach?
Ainsdale beach, dogs and horses are allowed on the beach with the exception of the bathing zone during the summer (Apr - Oct).
Horse riders MUST posses current and valid personal and third party liability insurance.
Water samples are taken at regular intervals during the bathing season and at the end of the season the water quality is classified as: - Excellent: the highest classification meaning the water is cleanest - Good: generally good water quality - Sufficient: meets minimum standards - Poor: You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
