Saltburn Beach is a delightful destination in a charming seaside town with plenty of Victorian heritage and attractions. The beach at Saltburn-on-Sea is a large, flat, shingle and sand beach backed by cliffs.
To get down to the beach and pier, you have The Saltburn Cliff Tramway, also known as the Saltburn Funicular, a water-balanced funicular lift connecting the town to the beach. It is one of the oldest water-powered funiculars in the world and provides a scenic ride down the cliffside to the beach.
It is a popular surfing beach with beach breaks on either side of the pier.
Dogs are allowed all year to the right of the pier with a seasonal (1st May and 30th Sept) ban to the left up to the point of access at Hazelgrove.
Facilities include lifeguards, a pier, a promenade, parking and more facilities in the town.
