The Good Side of Liverpool

Ever thought about taking a break in Liverpool?

When people talk about going to Liverpool for a break there’s a lot of scepticism about just how good of a time you can have in a city like this, especially when it’s for a summer break.

We’ve had a good look at the city and the surrounds and have to say it’s a win for everyone as this city is all about heritage and culture and is slap bang in the middle of some stunning countryside!

Liverpool resonates with history from being a gateway to the world, a destination for theatregoers, museum hunters and party animals as well as providing a broad selection of attractions that thrill the whole family.

There are vast art galleries, fascinating museums like the one at Albert Dock that houses the Beatles story taking you all through the times, music and lives of the lads from Liverpool and how they made it to the top of the pop charts!

If you’re looking for something totally different try Sefton Park Palm House which houses plants from all over the globe or go shopping in the cities bohemian boutiques and arcades.

There’s a fantastic shopping centre in the heart of the city that boasts 160 brand names just for you to ‘shop til you drop’ with Vivienne Westwood and deliciously expensive shoes and bags and don’t forget Lark Lane with all its markets!

Every palate is catered for in this city and if you don’t want to eat then take home fine fare from the farm shops in the Wirral! The restaurants are funky, traditional and eclectic with superb food for all to enjoy and if you fancy cocktails first then champagne is served by the many bars lining the streets.

During the day you can explore the surrounding areas and enjoy the seaside town of Southport.  It’s Victorian but modernised!  The pier has great shopping and a great choice of restaurants and attractions and there are many top hotels and guesthouses to choose from.  The nightlife is lively with a variety of events to suit all tastes but if you want to wind down then the 20 mile coast will relax your shoulders and envelop you in natural beauty.

Another great trip out is to the Wirral peninsula which lies between the Dee and Mersey Rivers and overlooks the hills of Wales! Perfect for a day’s escape from the city shopping and frivolity!

St Helens is another perfect day outing and lies between Manchester and Liverpool.  There’s horse racing all year round at Haydock Park and woodland walks at Fir Tree Farm or a bit of laser fun with the kids at Darkstar Laser but don’t miss The World of Glass!

All in all Liverpool is a great holiday or short break destination in the United Kingdom and one that is often overlooked as a city break.  Our advice, go and see for yourself but make sure you pre-book events and shows as it is more popular than you think!
