Coastal walks near Hive Beach Café in Dorset

If you are eating at Hive Beach Cafe near Bridport in Dorset you may want to try one of the many walks in the area.

Bridport is a historic, market town that is great to stroll around but sometimes you need just a little more of a challenge to work up an appetite or walk off a big lunch.  Bridport has a lovely fishing harbour called West Bay and a market that’s held on Wednesday’s and Saturdays which is great for shopping and browsing around if you don’t want to walk too far.

This is the gateway to the Jurassic Coast of England and there are many walks in the area for you to choose from. Our selection here is:

Short Walk – around 50 minutes

From the car park take the South West coast path over the Burton cliff to the river.  Take the path alongside the river inland and at the footbridge that crosses the river take either the inland path back to the car park. This should take you around 50 minutes to complete and is relatively easy.

Long walk – about 2 hours

If you feel like a longer walk, keep going to West Bay by way of the Freshwater Holiday Park and over East Cliff returning to the footbridge down the road, through the golf course and Holiday Park.

The distance is about 2.5km and it’s a moderate walk so you’ll need good walking shoes!

Another fantastic view from here is at Golden Cap!
