The Isle of Skye is close to the North West coast of the Scottish Highlands, and is the largest and the furthest north of the Inner Hebrides islands. Skye is about 80km (50 miles) from north to south and approximately 40km (25 miles) across at its widest point. This is not really an island you visit for the beaches but the coast is made up of spectacular scenery with bays, cliffs, rock stacks and caves making this a great and varied coastal landscape. Then add the mountains like The Old Man of Storr and it becomes a must visit for those that like nature and walking.
