Hardknott Roman Fort ruins is square with rounded corners, 114 metres long externally, or 105 metres internally, the rampart wall being about 1.7 metres thick with ditches adding to the total width of the rampart. Coniston Water is the third largest lake in the English Lake District, Cumbria. The lake is five miles long by half a mile wide, has a maximum depth of 184 feet, and covers an area of 1.89 square miles.
