Walton-on-the-Naze beach is a traditional large sandy beach with wooden groynes splitting it into sections. The beach sits either side of the second longest pier in Britain, with nearby Southend being the longest.
This still has some of the charms of the original Victorian seaside town.
The beach is also known as Albion Beach.
Facilities include parking, pier and amusements, slipway, promenade, kiosks, shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs nearby, beach huts, seasonal lifeguards and RNLI Shop.
Walton-on-the-Naze Beach is a Blue Flag Beach and has been awarded a regional Seaside Award.
Walton-on-the-Naze beach,the managed left-hand side (as you look out to sea) of the pier has a dog ban between 1st May and 30th September. The right side of the pier allows dogs all year round.
- Excellent: the highest classification meaning the water is cleanest
- Good: generally good water quality
- Sufficient: meets minimum standards
- Poor: You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
