Grenham Bay beach is different to those surrounding it in that it does not really have sand but consists of many rock pools below the Kent cliffs. East Beach is a pebble beach sitting to the east of Hampton Pier at the west end of Herne Bay, Kent. Hampton Pier is some 350 feet (110 m) long built on a curve of the coastline. Toilets, pub, grass park We have no dog information for Hampton Pier – East beach.

Beach Hut on Tankerton beach just a few minutes walk from public toilets, cafes and local shops. Facilities include: balcony table/chairs, deck chairs, rugs, kettle, cutlery, crockery and books. Daily hire is from 9am to 10pm. Special rates available for longer hire periods including weekends and weekly hire. Sorry but we don’t allow pets.

Reculver Towers are all that remains os a Saxon church made within the remains of a Roman fort. Dramatic twin towers, known as the “Two Sisters” were added in the 12th century. The church now stands within a large campsite.

Herne smock mill was built in 1789 and has a number of milling displays and models. Herne Mill has a three-storey smock built on a two-storey brick base with four double patent sails and a fantail. The mill is normally open from Easter to the end of September.

The modern pier opened in 1976 replacing the former Victorian pier that was damaged, with the Pier Pavilion now housing a sports complex. The end of the original pier can still be seen 1km out to sea. The victorian pier was the third pier to be built at Herne Bay, opened in 1897. Estimates of its length vary from 1097m

Quex House is a family home and has six rooms of the Regency Mansion open to the public. The house includes gardens, woodland and the Powell-Cotton Museum. The museum includes the life’s work of Major P.H.G Powell-Cotton (1866-1940), displayed are collections of objects, stories, photographs and a huge collection of natural history presented through taxidermy.
