South Lancing Beach

South Lancing Beach is a calm, local beach with a relaxed atmosphere. It’s a favourite among families, walkers, and dog owners. Located behind the beach is Lancing Beach Green, a large public grass area with direct access to the beach. The mix of shingle and sand means that at high tide, there’s a pebbled shoreline, but when the tide is out, you get more sand for walking, playing or lounging.

Lancing is part of a long stretch of West Sussex coast that runs eastwards from Worthing’s Pier and Splash Point, through Lancing and down to Shoreham harbour. The beach has a path that runs behind it, providing numerous access options away from the main car park areas.

If you take that little effort and move away from the busier areas, you will also see working parts of the beach with small fishing boats pulled up.

The beach has a swimming zone that keeps water sports users away from bathers, and as the beach is popular with kitesurfers, there are two zoned areas: the first is a free rider zone, and the second is a kitesurfing teacher zone.

Facilities at the beach include a large car park, toilets, food options, beach huts, and a children’s play area.
