The Black Horse

The Black Horse is a Grade-II listed property that dates back to the 17th Century when it was a smuggler’s inn. It was formerly the White Horse in 1851 and even briefly the White Swan in 2013, and is now owned by Historic Sussex Hotels.

The Black Horse’s coastal location up the road from Climping Beach makes it ideal for a beach walk beer stop, breakfast, lunch, or an evening out. It is a great pub for families and dogs, locals or visitors to the area.

Settle into a cosy nook or join the bustling bar, where you’ll find an interesting choice of craft beers, fine ales, Sussex wine, locally inspired cocktails, and pub classics.

In the bar, you will find cosy corners, deep sofas, and a fabulous pewter bar, perfect for a quick pint, a delicious supper or a lively catch-up with friends.

Move to the Ryebank, a stunning oak-beamed space, for something to eat. The restaurant looks out over the terrace, and there is also a glorious pink private room, perfect for celebrations, a fun family lunch, or a noisy dinner party.
