Joss Bay Beach Info | Kent Coast

Joss Bay Beach in Broadstairs, Kent, is a 200m sandy beach sheltered by large white chalk cliffs below the North Foreland Lighthouse. It is just one of the Seven Broadstairs Bays, and Joss Bay is known for its excellent surfing conditions. The beach hosts a surf school offering lessons and equipment hire, making it a great spot for those looking to learn or improve their surfing skills.

The beach is popular with families and not just surfers, and due to being close to Broadstairs, it can get crowded. The flat rocks at the end of the beach can provide hours of exploration for the kids.

Joss Bay Beach does not allow dogs on the beach between 10 am and 6 pm from 1 May to 30 September.

The bay was named after an 18th-century smuggler called Joss Snelling and is one of the seven bays in Broadstairs.

The beach’s facilities include a surf school and surf/kayak hire facilities, toilets, a cafe/restaurant, shops, deck chair/ windbreak hire, car parking, lifeguards in summer months, disabled access, and a seasonal children’s play area.
