Grove Museum of Victorian Life
The Grove Museum of Victorian Life was built by the Gibbs family, a wealthy shipping merchant family from Liverpool, in the mid-19th century as a summer retreat. Later, it became the family’s permanent residence.
You’ll find period rooms, containing original furnishings and fittings, and displays of the possessions of three Gibbs generations. Some of these are thought to have been brought back from Duncan Gibb’s travels to India with the East India Company. Outbuildings, with agricultural equipment including a restored horse-powered threshing mill on display.
Visit the Victorian gardens and you’ll even be able to have a game of croquet on the lawn beside the conservatory.
Gifts and souvenirs are available from the Grove Museum Shop
