At low tide, the shingle gives way to a broad band of smooth sand, making it especially family, and dog walker friendly. The consistent winds and space available also make this beach a favourite spot for kitesurfers and windsurfers.

At low tide, the sand becomes more expansive, making the walk between Rustington and Littlehampton very pleasant. However, be aware that as you get closer to Littlehampton, the beach has seasonal dog restrictions. This is roughly marked by the Beach Club Cafe, which is also dog-friendly.
